I haven't written in days and days. And the reason is that I spent my weekend in Nanaimo. Sorry to those I didn't get a chance to see while I was there. It was mostly a visit for Gwen's wedding, and then I spent the rest of the time visiting with family whom I never seem to get to talk to when I come home for weekends. Most of the time I end up spending all my time with a few people, and then going back to Victoria saying to myself, "Ah, crap! Wanted to give *insert your name here* a call! I never get to see him/her!"
Chalk it up to procrastination, I guess.
Anyway, the wedding was wonderful. Gwen looked very nice, and so did her groom, Eric. The ceremony was a little hard to hear because we were pretty close to the waterfront, and there was construction. But all was good. Gwen looked very happy.
Then I got to go to the dentist (whoopee). They cleaned my teeth, and then took some X-rays, blah, blah, blah. You know the drill (HAHAHAHA...Terrible pun!!!). Everyone was looking at me kinda weird, cuz I was still wearing my dress from the wedding. I got a lot of comments about how I was over-dressed for the dentist. Oh well, I wasn't there long.
There was still some time before the reception, so Dan and I went to his Grandparents' house. They're very nice people. His grandpa's going deaf though, so it was a little hard to talk to him. But he liked to talk anyway. He had all kinds of interesting stories to tell. He was in World War II so he told us some of his stories about then. He was also a parole officer, so he told us some of those stories as well. I also got to see baby pictures of Dan and his brother. Awwww! So cute!!
His grandma was a little quiet, and spent most of the time just sitting and listening. She told us she had no interesting stories. She was super-sweet though.
After that, we went to the reception and had dinner. My GOD was that ever a great dinner! The caterers were awesome. Both the chicken and the roast beef were amazing! It was so tender and juicy! *Drool* OK, I'm fine now.
We stayed for the dinner, and the speeches, and the gift opening. There was even a little dancing (very little...no one seemed interested in dancing). After that, we took off, and headed to Jim's. I was still in my dress, and I was starting to get uncomfortable. I really wanted to change, but we went to Jim's anyway. After about an hour there, I was finally able to go home and change. We spent an hour or two there, and then Jim, me, and Dan all went for a walk on the waterfront at Swyalana (sp?) It was still really warm too. We talked about philosophy and crazy things, and Red Dwarf, and generally just had fun. I haven't had a good conversation with friends like that in a while. I really missed it.
All too soon, we all went home. Dan had to leave the next day, and I stayed and extra day to see my family, and hang out with my sisters. It was good. We did a little shopping, and I found some new work clothes and also the coolest duckie pillow evar!! My mom bought them for me and called them early birthday presents.
Speaking of which, only a month and a day till my 22nd birthday! YEAH, BABY!!
Bonnie and Nick took me home Sunday afternoon, and then we went about getting their car out of our driveway. Soon after that, my fantastic weekend was over. I was so tired I took a nap almost as soon as I got home.
There was more, but I wanna make sure it's OK to divulge that information before I tell too many people.
