I honestly can't believe how badly today went. Nothing went right.
What's worse, is that it started before I even got to the Shcool. I had a dream that I woke up and realized that I had slept in and totally missed the audition. When I actually did wake up, I was in such a panic, that I leapt out of bed and immediately had a shower. I actually ended up being ready to go half and hour before I thought I'd be ready.
Then I walked to UVic. The walk itself was fine. I went over the songs in my head, tried to work out some of the kinks, and I felt OK. I got to UVic, and was shown where my audition would be, then I was shown where I could practice and warm up. That was fine. Then I was informed that I wouldn't get to see my accompanist before my audition. I wouldn't get to see him till I was in the room, ready to go. I had a moment of panic, and then I thought, "He's an accompanist. This kind of stuff happens. At least he knows the pieces. They told me they'd give him the music to look over before hand."
So I get to my audition, and that's where everything fell apart. I finally met my accompanist, and he informs me that he doesn't have my music. He never received it at all. And do I have any of it with me? Luckily, yes...But most of it's not in order, as I was mostly going over the parts I was having difficulty with. I spend 3 or 4 minutes organizing music, and in the end I could only find 4 of the 6. The adjudicators say that's fine, and I start. I make it through the first song OK, and the pianist is doing a pretty good job for never having seen the music before.
Then the second song. I make it most of the way, and then the music ends up falling all over the floor, and screws up the piano. It ends like a plane full of people with the engines malfunctioning and the passengers screaming to whatever God they believe in, as it heads right for a cliff face.
They end up having me sing a third and final song. One I think I'm fairly good at. I screw it up and forget which verse I'm on. As a final insult, my voice craps out on me on the final note of the song.
Then I cried.
At my interview, I'm told my grades are good, and the lady seems to like me. But..Oh no. They never got my second letter of recommendation. My boss at Subway forgot to mail it. Beautiful!
Right after the audition, I head to Subway to find out what happened. My boss isn't there, so I have to call him. He tells me that he wasn't told he had to send the letter anywhere. That's right. I wanted him to type me up a letter of recommendation for the School of Music, and then keep it in his drawer. Don't bother sending it in. I just wanted to see if you could use a word processor!
Then it rained on me. It wouldn't have been so bad if I had brought a jacket with me.
GRRRRRrrrr....
What a terrible day.
