I've been meaning to write about my weekend for days, but every time I think about it, I think that sleeping would be a lot more fun. Then I take a nap on the couch for a couple of hours and wake up in time to eat dinner and watch like an hour and a half of TV and then go back to bed.
Anyway, this weekend was a lot of fun. Dan's parents came and got us, and we got to Nanaimo by about 4. Dan and I hung out at the house for a couple of hours and just generally schmoozed around.
People started showing up to the party at about 6:30 or 7, and my dad started up his "famous" martinis. I swear, half the people who show up to these parties, only show up because of my dad's martinis. He told us all that he'd had to drink thousands of them to get the recipes just right. I'm sure it was all for the sake of the perfect martini, too.
They were to die for, as usual, though...So I guess it paid off. There's one that he makes every year called "the Grinch", which is essentially creme de menthe and other alcohol mixed together, with a candy cane garnish. It tastes a little like drinking mouthwash, but boy does your breath smell great when you're finished! There were a bunch of others, but the only other one I had myself was something called a "Coffee Twist", I think. I'm not sure what was in that one. I think there was some kind of coffee liquor. It was rather tasty though.
Ward came and we had a good talk about all kinds of things. He talked about his trip to Vancouver for the Thornley concert (which he thoroughly enjoyed) and I talked about...everything, really. There was some personal stuff too, but I won't get into it.
Ward and I went for a walk later in the night (he was tired and needed to get home). We talked some more, and then I took a cab back to my parents' place (my mom is nervous about me walking alone in the dark, I didn't feel like walking all the way back in the cold, and the hill was becoming super-icy).
On Sunday, I tried to go shopping with Bonnie, sister Robyn, and Andrea (a friend of Bonnie's from Subway), but was unsuccessful at finding anything. It didn't help that we went so late in the day, and I had to be home again cuz Dan's mom was coming to get us.
During the short adventure to the Woodgrove mall, I ended up seeing friend Robyn, who stopped to talk to. Shortly after that, Wilson came along! Wilson is a chap that I went to school with since about grade 7. He was in my 6/7 split class at Uplands Park. I haven't seen him since I graduated, I'm sure. It's too bad I had to run off so quickly. I would have really like to stay and chat some more.
Unfortunately, I had to go home and make sure all my things were packed for Victoria. Dan's mom came and got us, and we stopped by to see Dan's grandparents for a short while at Long Lake Chateau. We had to leave so that we would be over the Malahat before it got too dark.
By the way, Sunday was also Dan and mine's 2 year anniversary. Crazy, huh? We couldn't do anything, on account of the craziness of the weekend, but we're trying to plan something for next weekend.
Also, I ended up finding my last couple gifts I needed here in Victoria. I went all the way to Nanaimo and to Woodgrove Mall (which I hate) for nothing!
:-P

You just missed Erin Olson too. Wilson and I ran into her two seconds after you left. And Kim Theissen (who works at the Sunglass Hut). It was a bloody Wellington reunion. Wilson played live on the radio show on Friday and he was bloody amazing. His music has got soul. Such a powerful voice and such beautiful guitar...
Love,
Robyn
And, might I add, Thornley is to die for. Ward has the best musical taste. I told him that when I met him, but you should really reiterate that to him for me :)
Love,
Robyn
Will do. I'm sure he'll be glad to know that you think so highly of him.
