April must be the Month of Love!

I'm terrible at this.

Anyway, I'll have to play a little catch-up, I guess.

Since Valentine's day, nothing really important seems to have happened. However, I've been swamped with other people's birthdays! I can't believe how many people I know who are born in February (hence the title of this piece). It seems to be fairly equal bettween family and friends. I went to Nanaimo for Ward's birthday on the 19th and really only stayed for a day or two. Then, it was Bonnie's birthday, and five days after that, it was Nick's...It's just nuts!

Other than that, the only thing that's really been happening is a shuffle of shifts at work. I no longer have to get up at Stupid O'Clock every morning. I get two days a week where I don't work till noon and I've got my Fridays off completely again. Yeah for 3-day weekends!! What suck though, is that my boss has cut out another 8 hours of work for me, so I'm back down to part-time status. Well, it's not like I recieved any benefits for working full-time, but what a pain, huh?

On the other hand, working every day was beginning to be stressful, and he told me that if I needed more hours that I should just ask him. I think I'm gonna try this out for a while and see if it's enough for me.

I'm also almost done that insurance course. Only two more chapters and I can take the exam. So I might not even be working at the gas station for much longer. I'm kind of excited about it all. I think this is the first year since I moved to Victoria that I've actually accomplished something that's been worth my time.

Any way, gotta go.

Byee!

Coffee and Cigarettes

Ah, two things I don't generally indulge in...

Anyway, it seems the only time I have to write in this thing is the weekends. I can't believe how busy it gets for me at the moment. And now I've been asked to sing for a fundraiser as well. My wonderful friend, Natalia is putting a fundraiser together and has asked me to sing. I'm pretty sure we've agreed to perform Sarah McLauchlin's Angel (seems to be a bit of a standard for me now).

I'm really excited about this. But I haven't done any actual singing in months! Time to break out the warm-ups! I'm pretty sure it'll be just the one song, but it'll be fun to get in front of an audience and just sing again.

Is anyone doing anything spectacular for Valentine's day this year? I'm sure not. I think Dan and I will just have dinner out. We've decided to go to Milestone's since we both loved the food there the one other time we've ever been there. Unfortunately, it's really hard to get in without a reservation. It's funny, cuz Dan and I almost never make reservations when we go out to eat. We usually just show up. And the places we go always have room.

So anyway, I made reservations for us yesterday. The conversation went a lot like this:

Me: Hi, I'd like to make a reservation for two, please.

Hostess: Ok, when would you like to make the reservation for?

Me: Monday night, please. For 6:30 if possible.

Hostess: Ok, just hold on a second and I'll find out if we can do that for you.

Me: Ok, thanks.

(Hold)

Hostess: Hi there, we can make a reservation for you, but it'll be at a table for six.

Me: Wow, uh...Ok....

Hostess: There's only the two of you, right?

Me: Uh, yeah...*laugh*

Hostess: (laughing) You guys can eat and sleep!

So...yeah....If anybody's interested in coming down and joining us for dinner, we have room for ya.

It's Nice to be Back

No pun intended.

apologies for the unexpected hiatus. Just after Christmas, I threw my back out while trying on pants, and the pain got progressively worse until the only thing I was capable of doing was lying on my back. And every time I tried sitting up, I was in complete agony. And before it even go to that point, my chair that I use for the computer was aggravating it, so I never felt like sitting and typing for any length of time. Last week I started seeing a chiropractor, and I'm happy to say that I'm feeling much better.

Anyway, I've spent a good deal of time thinking about my life, and I've decided that I need an adventure. If any of my friends feel like whisking me away to said adventure, just let me know, and I'll blackmail my boss (with the use of some doctored photos) into working my shifts for me. I'm serious! We can go anywhere! We can go far away, we can stay in town, we can go for a walk, we can go camping....I don't care. I need to do something before my brain atrophies.

But while I wait for that, Bonnie and Nick are having a Super Bowl party that Dan and I have been invited to. That should be fun.

Stick a fork in me, I'm done...
